BWT Alpine Formula One™ Team Returns to São Paulo for the 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix

Ocon and Gasly celebrate after their double podium

This week, the Formula One travelling circus returns to beautiful São Paulo for the FORMULA 1 MSC CRUISES GRANDE PRÊMIO DE SÃO PAULO 2025 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, also known as Interlagos.

Interlagos was the scene of a dramatic finish last year that saw Verstappen come from 17th to win in the wet, while both 2024 BWT Alpine Formula One™ Team drivers, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, joined him on the podium.

The double podium, the first under the BWT Alpine Formula One™ Team name and the first since the 2013 Korean Grand Prix, came after a dramatic, water-soaked race. The team made it count with excellent strategy, timing and overall decision-making. It makes for an exciting return to celebrate the anniversary of such a brilliant result for the Enstone outfit.

Pierre Looking Forward to Return to Track of Team Triumph

Pierre said that the “team is looking forward to our return to São Paulo for this weekend's race in Brazil” and that “Racing at Interlagos brings back special memories (...) for me personally having scored my first F1 podium there in 2019.”

With such a powerful spirit at the track and a fanbase that brings an “incredible atmosphere (...) whatever the weather” makes Gasly excited to be back at a track where “margins are incredibly fine [and] anything can happen.”

Franco Ready to Capitalise

For Franco Colapinto, this is a slight homecoming, with Interlagos being the only race in South America on the calendar. The Argentinian “experienced this event for the first time last year” and is excited to see “so many Argentinians there for support” at the track this year.

Much like Gasly, Colapinto believes that this is “a track with so much history [and] a race where anything can happen.” With the addition of the sprint, Colapinto is making sure that he is ready to “capitalise on any opportunities which could come [his] way.”

Interlagos Track Facts

Trak Facts: Interlagos

At only 4.309 km, Interlagos stands as one of the shortest circuits on the calendar, meaning every tenth of a second counts. Featuring 15 corners, the lap begins with the iconic Senna ‘S’, a sweeping downhill sequence that demands precision and confidence as it feeds directly into the DRS zone on the approach to Turn 4.

Whoever exits Turn 4 ahead is well positioned to hold that place through Sector 2, where rapid direction changes and elevation shifts challenge both balance and mechanical grip. The final sector focuses on pure power, with strong traction out of Turn 12 providing a clear advantage for the uphill, full-throttle run back to the start-finish line.

If last year’s race is anything to go by, and with a chance of rain on both Saturday and Sunday, this is a race weekend not to be missed.
